Childhood Years

I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966 during the last year of my father’s civil engineering studies at the University of Strathclyde, where he met my mother. Shortly after my birth, we travelled to Africa, Mufalira, the mineral industry centre of Zambia, where my father started a three-year contract with the electricity supply company for the copper mining company.

The family subsequently moved to Livingstone where my father started working as the administrating director of the largest power supply company in south-central Africa. In the next six years, my sister and I attended school in Livingstone, where the nuns kept me in line until the unsettlement between Zambia and Rhodesia escalated.

As a result, the whole family moved back to Norway in 1977, where I finished my schooling and spent my formative years.
