History of PDRH3 (Pattaya Dirt Road Hash House Harriers).

The PDRH3 was founded in August 1985 by Bob “Pimp” Finch and Derek “Derelick” Miller (R I P). By the end of November 2023, the PDRH3 had acquired 1,508 registered dirt roaders, and the 455 dirt runs over 459 months have amassed 15,210 total signups. Due to the Revered King of Thailand’s passing, the October 2016 run was not officially held (the run that never was), and due to COVID regulations during 2020 and 2021, some planned runs were duly cancelled.

I accumulated a total of one hundred and twenty runs by July 2024. Of these, I hared and co-hared eighteen. However, only fourteen of those set/hared runs are officially registered. The number of runs attended and hared would have been much higher if not for the limited time spent in Thailand between offshore work rotations. Having signed up and paid, I was called offshore at the last minute on multiple occasions. As of July 2024, thirty-nine years since its inception, Fourteen dedicated dirt roaders have clocked more runs than me; the record for most runs achieved is held by Sir Airhead and Papa Whiskey, with an outstanding unbeatable record of 363and 354 runs, respectively. GI Joe comes in on the list with an impressive 221 Runs.

The very first Dirt run attracted eleven runners. There are twelve runs a year, held on the last Thursday of each month. Every run is unique, with the general theme, the props, the T-shirt(s) design, the venue(s), the run length and area, the transport, the beverage, the food, the ice blocks, and much more changed for every run; in short, a demanding amount of organisation is required. This effort is performed voluntarily by that month’s dedicated hares (organisers), without compensation apart from the pleasure and pride of providing so much joy and banter to so many unique good people.
