Motorcycles have long been a passion of mine. The freedom of the open road and having my life in my own hands is always exhilarating. My first motorbike was a Honda XL 500 Trail that I rode from 1983-1986, a great bike. Next was a Honda VF750F, 1986-1987; then Yamaha VMAXs between 1997 and 2011.
In 2011 I sold my vamped and customized V-MAX and purchased a stock Harley Davidson V-ROD Muscle that was subsequently customized. Patrick Van den Berge and a group of friends from the PH3 had in 2007 – 2008 a non-bike related gathering named the Black Sheep after a practical joke played by John McAllen, aka Sir Chicken F@c£er (RIP). He fenced us in during a PH3 circle declaring us too rowdy.
The Black Sheep MC is born
The name stuck, and Patrick started the Black Sheep MC (motorcycle club). I had declined an invitation to join another motorcycle club several years earlier, not being the rules and uniform type of person. But I gladly accepted Patrick’s invitation and have never regretted the decision. We started with nine members, but membership has slowly but surely increased. Some members have sadly passed away, and some have moved on. Patrick, a very close friend and the club’s president, holds things together with his dedication, hard work and determination.
Our members are all good men of good standing, and the Black Sheep, contra to what the name implies, does not have any criminals as members. We attend Burapa Bike Week every year, a huge festival that is among the most massive bike weeks in the world. The Black Sheep ride on Saturdays and organise longer rides around Thailand. We attend the memorial services at Kanchanaburi every year and support numerous charities, including orphanages and the British Legion. It is an honour to be a member of such a band of brothers.
