Below is a list of North Sea divers who ventured into the North Sea basin depths over the decades since the initial foray into that geographical area’s commercial offshore oil and gas exploration, which began in the late winter of 1964. I have collectively referred under the generalised term the North Sea the surrounding waters, which include the Celtic Sea, Irish Sea, Norwegian Sea, the English Channel waters, and the Belgian, Danish, German, Irish, Nederlands, United Kingdom and Norwegian sectors.
This list is not final and is continuously being expanded and improved upon, with more information being gained and verified. I have intentionally avoided references to birth dates, other personal information, and actual service records. I have also strived to contact as many of those listed as possible who are still with us. If individuals do not want their names listed, I will immediately remove those names.

A legion of naval diving-educated men who ventured into the North Seas waters as air, bounce and saturation divers are listed below. After completing naval/military service, these men gained further surface-supplied diving, standard hard hat, inspection and bell diving education/certification from civilian-operated schools. Many, if not most, of these men would gain further certifications and became dive supervisors, superintendents, ROV pilots and supervisors, offshore managers, mechanical, electrical, and life support supervisors and technicians, living a nomadic working life between the various diving contractors of the era. The list below is only cursory, leaving out far too many. Sadly, by 2024, many have left us.

A multitude of civilian-educated divers who received surface supplied (Narghile), Standard Hard Hat, open bell, closed bell, surface decompression, and other additional diving certifications from non-military national and private educational diving establishments toiled in the North Sea over the decades—upon civilian educational establishments opening in the early to mid-1970s, with the exponential expansion of offshore oil and gas fields the existing dominance of naval-educated divers by necessity gradually declined. Between 1965 and 1971, about fifty to one hundred and thirty divers were active in the North Sea; by 1977, British government figures indicate well over a thousand men were active in the dive teams, including surface personnel.
